Paddington Terrace
Completed in 2020
Responding to the clients’ brief to create more functional zones within both their kitchen and attic spaces, the site constraints presented by this terrace home were celebrated as opportunities within this joinery based solution.
The previously under-utilised area off the kitchen now acts as the hub of family life for this young family. The bespoke joinery provides storage, homework and craft areas, as well as a generous secondary meals area that spills out to the courtyard beyond.
The long, narrow attic space provided opportunity for introducing multiple zones for this family of four. An existing dormer window serves as a study niche in the treetops for the owner who primarily works from home. The opposite end enjoys a full size daybed under the large expanse of windows, providing both a place to lounge and additional sleeping space when required. The clients are avid readers and cinemaphiles, whose request for copious storage for their book and DVD collections was answered through both concealed and displayed storage. Generous storage drawers through the centre of the room house games and lego used by the children in this family focused space.
